Preparing for a mobile mechanic visit

Have your vehicle details ready

Start with your vehicle registration and a brief description of what you need. For servicing, include the mileage and any details of the last service. For repairs, send any written recommendation you already have.

If you’re not sure what needs doing, just describe the problem in your own words. You don’t need to know which repair to ask for. Let us know if you have a report, or if you’re describing something you’ve noticed yourself.

Tell us where the car will be parked

Send the postcode and tell us whether the car will be at home or work. Also describe the parking space, such as a driveway, shared car park or marked on-street bay.

Mention any height barriers, locked gates, permits, time limits or restricted entrances. A photo can help explain the parking layout. We’ll discuss whether the work can be carried out there before agreeing a visit.

Check access and parking permission

If the parking area is managed by your employer, landlord or a managing agent, check that servicing or repair work is allowed and pass on any conditions. Tell us about parking charges or access arrangements before the visit.

Let us know if the car cannot be moved or the parking space might not be available when we arrive. We’ll check whether we can do the work there.

Confirm the booking details

Before booking, confirm what work is included, where we’ll meet you and a time that suits you. Agree a fixed price or, for hourly work, the rate and an estimate. Check any call-out fee or minimum charge before the visit. Arrange access to the car and keys, and agree how we can contact you during the visit.

Keep the service record or repair report to hand. Let us know before the visit if the vehicle or location details change. An enquiry is not a confirmed appointment until we have agreed the booking details.

A simple first message

Hi, could I have a quote for [a service / repair]? My vehicle registration is [registration] and the mileage is [mileage, if known]. It’s parked [describe the space] at [postcode]. [Add any service history, repair recommendation or symptoms.] Would you be able to come here, and when are you available?
