Who is responsible

Mobileworks Sussex is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. You can contact us at privacy@mobileworkssussex.co.uk or on 01273 977106.

Website analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand page views and how quickly the website loads, so we can improve it. The browser sends page-use and performance measurements to Cloudflare.

Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not collect or use visitors’ personal data, does not use cookies or browser storage to measure use, and does not fingerprint individual visitors. This is separate from the information processed to deliver and protect the website.

Read Cloudflare’s Web Analytics information for more about the service.

Contact-link measurement

When enabled, we use Cloudflare Zaraz to count use of our Phone, WhatsApp, Facebook and Google links, so we can improve the website. Zaraz can also process technical context, including the page address, browser and device information, IP addresses and cookies available on the site.

You can turn contact-link measurement off or back on using the control below. This setting applies to this browser and is separate from Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track, which do not automatically switch this measurement off. We remember your choice until you change it or clear this website’s browser data. The saved preference does not contain a unique visitor identifier.

Your measurement setting

The control needs JavaScript to check this browser’s setting. If this message stays visible, the control has not loaded.

This control applies to contact-link measurement. Cloudflare Web Analytics is described separately above.

Hosting and security

Cloudflare hosts and helps protect this website. Delivering a page involves processing technical connection information, such as an IP address and the requested page. Cloudflare may also use security cookies if a protection feature requires them.

These hosting and security services are separate from Web Analytics. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for more about its services and international processing.

Appearance and scrolling

If you change the colour mode, the site saves your choice in your browser’s local storage. It remembers that appearance on later pages and visits, until you change it or clear this site’s browser data.

On desktop devices, the Smooth scrolling switch in the footer lets you turn the scroll effect on or off. We save an off preference in local storage so it carries across pages and visits. Switching it on removes that saved preference.

These settings control the website’s appearance and scrolling. They do not contain an advertising or visitor identifier. If your browser blocks local storage, the controls still work for the current page, but the site cannot remember your choices for later visits.

When you contact Mobileworks Sussex

When you call, email or message us, the information you provide is used to respond to your enquiry, discuss a quote and arrange the work. This may include your name, contact details, vehicle registration and the location where the vehicle will be parked.

Enquiries and job messages are usually kept in Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp. We also use a calendar to arrange bookings. The retention criteria below explain when information is kept or removed.

Only send the details needed for the enquiry. Please do not send payment-card details, identity documents or other sensitive information through ordinary messages.

WhatsApp, Facebook, Google and Yell links take you to separate services with their own privacy policies. Contact and review links are ordinary links, rather than embedded social feeds. A telephone link opens your device’s calling service.

Customer quotations are reproduced from reviews originally published on Facebook, Google or Yell, with the reviewer name and source. Contact us if you have a question about a review displayed on this website.

Why we use your information

Data protection law requires a lawful basis for using personal information. The basis depends on what the information is needed for:

  • Requested quotes, bookings and agreed work: taking steps at your request before a contract, or fulfilling a contract with you. We use the details needed to prepare your quote, arrange the visit and carry out the agreed service or repair.
  • Required tax and accounting records: legal obligation, where the law requires us to keep relevant information.
  • Other enquiries, business contacts, aftercare correspondence and complaints or disputes: our legitimate interests in responding accurately, supporting customers and protecting our legal rights, where this is not already part of fulfilling a contract with you.
  • Website operation and service information: where personal information is involved, our legitimate interests in keeping the website secure and working, understanding its use and displaying relevant, attributed reviews and work examples.

For legitimate interests, we consider whether the information is necessary and balance the purpose against your privacy and rights. This is not permission to use unnecessary information or to ignore the rules on cookies and similar technologies. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests using the contact details below; the separate contact-link measurement control is above.

How long we keep information

  • Working notes and booking details: temporary working notes are normally removed after the job when they are no longer needed. Booking information is kept while arranging and carrying out the work, and for any necessary follow-up.
  • Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp histories: we review these once a year and delete information that is no longer needed. Relevant messages may be kept for an ongoing enquiry, repeat work, aftercare or an unresolved complaint or dispute. Keeping a chat does not mean every detail must be retained indefinitely.
  • Tax and financial records: information required for tax or accounting is kept for the applicable legal recordkeeping period. This depends on the type of record and the tax period it relates to. We keep relevant records longer where necessary for an HMRC check or legal dispute. These requirements do not mean that every chat or temporary note must be kept for the same period.
  • Published reviews and work examples: these may remain while they are relevant to describing our services and work. We consider requests to correct or remove personal information individually.

Where there is no fixed deletion date, the criteria are whether information is still needed for the purposes above and whether any legal requirement or unresolved matter prevents deletion. Browser appearance and measurement preferences remain until you change them or clear this website’s browser data, as explained above.

Your rights and privacy questions
