Frequently asked questions
A few things you may want to know before booking. If your question is not covered here, give us a call or send us a message.
Arranging a visit
What should I send for a quote?
Send your vehicle registration, the postcode where the car will be parked and what you need help with. A photo of a garage recommendation or MOT report is useful if you have one. You can contact us by phone, WhatsApp or Facebook.
Which areas do you cover?
We cover Brighton, Hove, Portslade, Southwick, Shoreham-by-Sea, Lewes, Rottingdean and Saltdean. Send your postcode so we can confirm whether we can visit your location. See our coverage information for more details.
Can you work at my home or workplace?
Yes, where there is suitable space and access for the work. Tell us where the car will be parked and mention any parking restrictions, gates, permits or permission needed. We’ll check the arrangements with you before booking.
What if I do not know what is wrong with the car?
You do not need to know which part needs replacing. Tell us what you have noticed, when it happens and whether anyone has already checked it. We’ll discuss whether we can help and what needs checking next.
How soon can you fit me in?
Get in touch with your vehicle registration, postcode and what needs doing, and let us know which days suit you. We’ll check availability and agree a date and time with you. Your appointment is confirmed once we have agreed the booking details.
Quotes and payment
Do you charge for a quote?
Quotes are free, with no obligation to book. Send us the vehicle details and what needs doing so we can give you a price for the work.
Will I know the price before the work starts?
Yes. Most jobs are quoted at a fixed price for the agreed work. If a job is charged by the hour, we’ll explain the rate and give you an estimate. Any call-out fee or minimum charge is discussed before the visit.
How and when do I pay?
We accept cash, bank transfer (BACS) and PayPal. Payment, or any remaining balance after a deposit, is due immediately when the work is completed.
Do you ask for a deposit?
No deposit is needed for most jobs. For some larger jobs, we may ask for a 25% deposit, with the remaining 75% due immediately on completion. In rare cases, full payment may be required upfront. We’ll explain why and agree any advance payment with you before booking.
The work on your car
What is included in a full service?
A full service includes an engine oil and filter change, air filter replacement and a vehicle inspection. We’ll confirm what is included for your car and quote separately for any additional maintenance or repairs. You can read the details on our car servicing page.
Will you fit parts I have bought myself?
We normally supply the parts we fit so we can check suitability and quality. Any exception must be agreed before booking. We do not provide a product guarantee for parts you supply, but we remain responsible for our advice and fitting work.
Can you help arrange an MOT?
Yes. We can help arrange MOT tests and retests and recommend test centres we use. The test itself is carried out at an approved MOT test centre. If your car needs repairs after a failure or advisory, send us the report so we can discuss the work.
What happens if you find more work is needed?
We’ll explain what we have found and discuss the work and its cost with you. Additional work is agreed with you before it goes ahead.
Changes and aftercare
Can I change or cancel my appointment?
Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to move or cancel your appointment. We do not charge a cancellation or missed-appointment fee. If you’ve paid a deposit, we can agree to carry it over when you reschedule. If you cancel, any refund or deduction will respect your legal cancellation rights.
What if the parking space or access changes?
Contact us before the visit if the car has moved, the parking space is unavailable or there is a problem with access. We’ll discuss whether the work can still go ahead there or the appointment needs to move. We do not charge for a missed appointment or being unable to access the vehicle.
What if I have a problem after the repair?
Get in touch so we can investigate. If an issue is caused by our workmanship, we’ll put it right at no additional cost. If a part we supplied appears to have failed, we’ll look into that too and put right problems we’re responsible for. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
